PDFPlasthall® P-920 is a newly developed polymeric plasticizer specifically designed for challenging-to-plasticize fluoroelastomer (FKM) compounds. The fluorinated backbone of these polymers typically complicates the incorporation of polyester plasticizers. However, Plasthall® P-920 acts as a process aid, enhancing extrusion efficiency by lowering Mooney viscosity, which in turn reduces torque and energy consumption.
Depending on compatibility, compounders can load anywhere from 2 to 10 PHR, achieving a reduction in Mooney viscosity by over 25% with minimal impact on tensile performance. Plasthall® P-920 is available as a neat liquid or on dry carriers such as silica, wollastonite, or magnesium oxide.
