Expert Video: Polyester Modifiers for Vinyl Foam Applications

Today the majority of flexible vinyl foam applications heavily rely on low viscosity monomeric plasticizers. Perhaps the biggest concern with polymeric plasticizers is their higher viscosity, lower plasticizing efficiency and potential impact on processibility and quality of foam articles on the market.
Hallstar took this opportunity to explore and showcase the impact of medium to low molecular weight polyester plasticizers on flexible foam applications and their performance characteristics.
The goal of the project was two-fold:
- Evaluate the polymeric adipate plasticizer in a standard low density vinyl foam formulation
- Correlate foam performance to the loading level of polyester plasticizer in the formulation
